The Samsung S25 Ultra: The Biggest Camera Upgrade in Years?

The Samsung S25 Ultra: Okay so I’ve already talked about every major design change that the s25 series is getting in this video right here and in today’s video there’s a lot left to go over especially when it comes to the camera and a couple of other changes as well starting off with the camera as there’s a lot to unpack here 91 mobiles just posted the full camera specifications for the ultra module but first let’s talk about the main module Samsung has been using the same 200 megapixel Main module on both the s24 ultra as well as the s23 ultra and and overall

Key Camera Features of the S25 Ultra

It’s a pretty good module plenty sharp however from our camera comparisons I found that it is actually the sharpest when you shoot at its 50 megapixel resolution rather than at the default 12.5 or even at 200 and while the image processing was good sometimes it could be a bit of a hit and miss plus its slow light performance was not that impressive especially when it came to video however with the s25 ultra we may see a big upgrade as back in December of 2023 the first details came out about a brand new 200 megapixel sensor made by

Samsung one with a 1 in sensor size now I know what some of you may be saying here which is that that’s all news and if it hasn’t happened in more than a year it probably won’t be happening at all anymore however you do need to remember that Samsung tends to announce new components way before they actually make it into their products for example they introduced their 200 megapixel sensor the iso cell hp1 back in September of 2021 however we did not see this in the s22 ultra which launched in early 2022

Instead we only saw it in the s23 ultra which launched in 2023 now it is worth pointing out that Samsung has yet to officially announce this new 1in 200 megapixel sensor but considering that we heard the first details about it more than a year ago it could also be that Samsung is keeping this a secret so to say until the official unveil of the s25 ultra and if it does make it into the s25 ultra there are three main upgrade upgrades that we’ll get here thanks to it the first is a much improved lowy

🌙 Improved Low-Light Performance: Larger sensor size promises better night photography.

Performance given that this sensor would be 160% larger than the one in the s24 and s23 Ultra now don’t get me wrong it still won’t match phones like the xiaomi 14 Ultra which also come with a one-in sensor but that phone has a 50 megapixel resolution so the pixels on that sensor are four times larger than what they would be on this Samsung 200 megapixel 1 sensor so that would still be much better in low light but compared to the s24 and 23 Ultra this would be a significant upgrade another upgrade that

🔍 4X In-Sensor Zoom: Enhanced zoom capabilities using a portion of the sensor.

We would get with this new 1in 200 megapixel sensor would apparently be 4X in sensor Zoom Which is far superior than digital Zoom as you are using a specific portion of that sensor to capture that image in Full Resolution which would be the equivalent of a 4X optical zoom module straight from the main camera we only had 2x sensor crop zoom on the s24 ultra so this seems to be a new feature of this new improved sensor itself and the third upgrade would be the extra depth of field that we will get from this 160% larger sensor

🌿 Enhanced Depth of Field: More natural portrait shots without needing portrait mode.

Which means that portrait mode shots will look even more natural and in some cases you may not even need to use portrait mode to achieve that effect now of course given that Samsung hasn’t yet announced anything this 1in 200 megapixel sensor may or may not happen so we will have to wait and see but if it does happen with d s25 Ultra these three upgrades would be the main ones that we would see now we we go to the ultra module this is actually what that 91 Mobile’s leak was all about this seems to show a much larger f1.7

Aperture from the current f2.2 in addition to a brand new 50 megapixel sensor up from the current 12 the really impressive thing here is that this new Ultra wide also supports pixel binning now which means that the photos that you’ll take will still be 12.5 megapixels in resolution by default but then you’ll be able to switch to 50 whenever you want extra sharpness Plus in low light you will now get much better led performance thanks to each pixel being essentially four times larger than before thanks to pixel

Binning now I never thought s24 ultra’s Ultra wide was bad by any means I actually thought it was pretty good but seeing the specs makes me think that the s25 ultra might have one of the best Ultra Ides on any phone out there possibly even surpassing the xiaomi 14 ultras which was truly something else that Ultra was basically as good as a main sensor and that too was a 50 megapixel module with a similar sensor size as the one on the s25 ultra only with a slower f1.8 lens rather than f1.7 now before moving on to the telephoto this year

About this and while yes the 5x module that Samsung introduced with the s24 ultra was better than the old 10x when it came to taking portrait mode shots it was a substantial downgrade at Zoom ranges like 20x and 30X and the fact that Samsung’s not going back to a 10x is definitely sad news for those of us who have really loved Samsung’s previous long Zoom range capabilities however I do have some good news here if you watched our previous s25 leaks video you may remember that the s25 ultra is set

💡 AI Enhancements: Snapdragon 8 Elite chip brings advanced photo processing.

To come with a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and one of the main features about it is that it integrates the ISP into its neural engine for Realtime photo AI enhancements and over the past few weeks I’ve actually been secretly testing an upcoming phone with a Snapdragon 8 the lead chip now I cannot really say which phone that is but what I can tell you is that once you go above Zoom ranges of 20x its AI processing really starts geeking in and it makes a huge difference when it comes to results like I’ve got a couple of samples here and

The end results will still be better thanks to these AI capabilities inside the snap dragon 8 Elite chip and combined with that much upgraded ultra and possibly that larger 1in main sensor too I do believe the s25 ultra will will have some of the best if not the best camera capability out of any phone coming out in 2025 now as from the camera there are a couple of more recent s25 leaks that I think are worth mentioning for example according to ice Universe all models of the s25 so the standard the plus and the

The Sim trays 4D s25 Ultra have actually been leaked which helps us see the new colors perfectly the black looks to be very dark and pretty much the same as on the s24 ultra maybe even a bit darker which I do like the silver looks like raw aluminum something that I think would look really nice in person and then we’ve got the blue which has this midnight look to it and according to ice Universe this would actually be the hero color of the s25 ultra and surprisingly the last color isn’t gray like originally leaked but instead gold

And I do actually think that this is such a good move as silver and gray I think they would have been far too similar so at least now we’ve got four colors that are unique plus just like in the previous years I do expect Samsung to give us even more colors if we buy the directly from their website those being the online exclusive colors now aside from the s25 Ultras colors the Sim trades for the standard and the plus models have also been leaked we can see that moonlight blue color here I’m assuming the middle one is that sparking
